Planning permission has been requested for a major new nursing home in Inishowen, County Donegal.
The plans for the 58-bed nursing home at Churchland Quarters, Carndonagh, were submitted by Glasheady Investments Limited, Donegallive reported.
A decision on the application is due by 3 April, 2022.
The news follows the granting of planning approval for a nursing home in County Wicklow earlier this month, despite opposition from a rival operator.
Independent planning body An Bord Pleanála approved Glenveagh Homes’ plans for 77 homes and a 12-bed nursing home in Blessington despite an appeal by Downshire Lodge Nursing Home in October 2020.
Downshire Lodge made its appeal after securing planning permission for a 104-bed care home just 250 metres from the Glenveagh Homes site in October 2020.
