The promised pandemic bonus has only been paid to under half the non-HSE health care companies who submitted claims in November last year.
The bonus payment of €1,000 was announced in January 2022. Whilst some payments have been made to HSE staff, complications in paying other groups, including private nursing homes, have appeared.
Currently, some 22,690 non-HSE employees have been paid the bonus. This, meaning 44% of the claims received to date, a HSE spokesman told The Irish Examiner.
However, new claims are continuing to be submitted for the pandemic bonus each day.
Payments that have been made include staff working in 213 nursing home employers. It is estimated that there around 440 private and voluntary nursing homes in Ireland.
