Among its expansions in England and Scotland, one of the UK’s fastest growing care home providers will be making its debut in Ireland soon.

Simply UK is a real estate developer and investment company with a particular focus on care homes, and the company is now looking to use Ireland as a stepping stone to a wider European expansion.

Simply UK has launched Portland Care Group, which the company said underlines its dedication to the care sector.

Since launching Portland it has acquired six care homes in the north of England, while Simply UK has been heavily investing in care homes over the last two years, with £250 million in acquisition costs.

It aims to have 60 care homes and 4,000 beds by 2026.

The company also already owns Morar Living care home group, with six five-star facilities in Scotland and plans for another two in the country, as well as five more south of the Scottish-English border.

A press release from the company, however, reveals that its ambitions extend beyond England and Scotland. It said the company “has started its first development in Ireland in a move which will open up the European market to the brand”.

Social Care Professional is told that the plans for the first Irish Simply property are still in the early development stages.

Commenting on the Portland Care Group launch, Simply UK land director Neil Dobbie said: “The acquisition of these six homes marks the start of an exciting new phase in our growth strategy and underlines our ambition to become one of the largest quality care providers in the UK.”

It remains to be seen whether the company looks to expand quite so rapidly this side of the Irish Sea.
