Thousands of people across Ireland are waiting to receive two one-off social welfare payments before Christmas.
A €500 Carer’s Support Grant will be given to those who are eligible. This started 21 November (yesterday).
The social-welfare payment is set to be paid automatically to anybody receiving a Carer’s Allowance, Carer’s Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance.
In addition, those who receive a long-term social welfare payment of €20 or more will get a Christmas Bonus on December 5.
They will be receiving double what they usually get.
Anybody who receives the following payments automatically qualifies for a Christmas Bonus:
- Carer’s Allowance and Carer’s Benefit
- Disability Allowance
- Disablement Pension and Widow’s, Widower’s or Surviving Civil Partner’s Pension under the Occupational Injuries Scheme
- Domiciliary Care Allowance
